You're Allowed to Drink Alcohol in Many Parks,
But Not Everywhere in the Parks!


In all 47 Parks in Vancouver where drinking is permitted, there are areas that still remain off limits to people consuming alcohol.

We don’t want you to get written up by a Ranger for this potential misunderstanding.

Please, refer below to “Where Drinking Alcohol is Never Allowed” section, if you are seeking clarification about what areas in the permitted Parks remain restricted to drinking alcohol.

Parks are not Beaches. Beaches are not Parks


All 7 Beaches in Vancouver that have had drinking permitted -
only from June to the end of September- are all adjacent to Parks where drinking is permitted year round.

We don’t want you to get written up by a ranger for this potential misunderstanding. Please review the below section for a better understanding of the areas where drinking is and is not permitted.

  • At Outdoor pools, Wading pools, and Splash parks

  • At Sports fields, Sports courts, and purpose-built amenities such as Skate parks

  • Inside Community Centres, Washrooms, Fieldhouses, and other facilities

  • In and On Ecologically sensitive natural areas

  • In Parking lots

  • In off-leash dog parks

  • In and At Community gardens and horticulture displays
